The School Farm and Country Fair

Our community liaison managers hosted a stand in the STEM Zone at the The School Farm and Country Fair, which is held annually at Trinity Park, Ipswich.

The event hosted over 4,000 Year 3 and 4 students from schools across Suffolk, who were treated to a day full of interactive, hands-on activities around agriculture, farming and conservation.

Our materials sorting activity proved very popular. Children used sieves and magnets to sort simulated incinerated bottom ash containing various metal objects and small pieces of brick and stone by its properties – size and magnetic or non-magnetic. It was hard to keep track, but we estimate that over 1,000 children participated on the day!
