Heritage Open Days 2019

The Suffolk energy-from-waste facility opened its doors as part of the national Heritage Open Days scheme.

On 14 September 2019, residents in Suffolk were invited to see first-hand what happens to their household waste. The Heritage Open Days scheme is an annual week-long event (14-22 September) that sees a whole variety of buildings open their doors to celebrate heritage, community and history.

Visitors were able to speak to staff about the facility, and how waste is managed in the county, visit the control room and visitors centre and sign up to guided tours of the facility. Over one hundred people attended on the day to find out about the whole waste story in Suffolk and get up close and personal with the technology in operation. We had a great time spreading the word about the facility’s role in managing the county’s waste, and we’re already looking forward to the 2020 Heritage Open Days.
