This beautiful coffee table, which is part of our Suffolk EfW facility’s new look Level 1 stairwell area, was sourced from our Revive shop at Earlswood. It was in a really bad state, with water damage to the varnish and veneer, but it was repaired by one of our staff members based in Surrey using a technique called kintsukuroi or “golden repair”. This technique focuses on the functional aspect of an object, ensuring that it is usable again, while still embracing the philosophy of repairing and transforming brokenness into beauty. And what a beauty it is!

The furniture for the Level 2 reception area, including the library chairs, small side table and cabinet, were all sourced from the Manchester Renew Hub, where it was refurbished using reclaimed materials including upholstery fabric and wallpaper.

We are proud to have upgraded these areas using reclaimed items and hope that it will “inspire visitors and staff to see what can be achieved with second hand items and some TLC”.
