In September a group from our site spent their Day A Year To Volunteer assisting with a beach litter pick at Orford Ness National Trust Nature Reserve in Suffolk. A variety of litter was found and removed from the beach, including plastic bottles and caps, plastic cutlery and food packaging, drink cans and a large amount of broken glass bottles, as well as sewage related litter such as wet wipes. Other items removed included shoes, children’s plastic toys and cigarette butts. The team really enjoyed the beach litter pick; they were very lucky with the weather and even noticed some seals following them in the sea on their litter pick!
