Minister visits site

Suffolk Coastal MP and newly-appointed Defra Minister, Therese Coffey visited the site to learn more about how the county’s waste is being put to good use.

During her visit the Minister learned more about the energy-from-waste process and how it fits into the wider strategy for dealing with the county’s waste.

She met representatives from the Suffolk Waste Partnership and heard how the county and seven district and borough councils have worked together to reduce waste and boost recycling.

There was also discussion on the opportunities for increasing consistency in recycling collections to help residents recycle even more.

On the same day councillors from Western Australia also visited the site. SUEZ Australia is bidding to build an energy-from-waste facility in Perth and were keen to learn from the Suffolk experience.
