Felixstowe beach clean
In late August, 18 members of the Suffolk energy-from-waste facility team, along with friends and family, took part in a litter pick along Felixstowe beach and promenade.
The sun was shining and the beach was busy, however, the team managed to navigate the crowds and collect eight large bags of litter, equating to over 40 kilograms. The most commonly found item was cigarette butts, of which hundreds were collected.
The litter pick formed part of the #suez4ocean campaign, a worldwide waste collection initiative on beaches and rivers. The campaign encourages SUEZ employees across the globe to organise beach and waterway clean-ups in their local area. To date, the campaign has mobilised over 1,800 people to collect over 65 tonnes of waste.
