After last year’s achievement of being judged as the Best Stand Representing Education at the Suffolk Show, we were delighted to receive the award for the Best Stand Representing Environment and Countryside this year! This award is testament to the hard work that the Suffolk County Council waste team put into bringing the recycling bin heroes to life, as ‘Green Guardian’, ‘Brilliant Blue’ and ‘Captain Caddy’ made their appearance to help people to get to grips with Better Recycling. Several local schools submitted their own recycling heroes, adding to the impressive visual display and demonstrating their understanding of the changes to recycling.

In total, 3,245 people visited the stand over the two days, participating in the range of fun activities that were available, as well as having the opportunity to find out more about the changes to waste and recycling collection services that began at the beginning of June this year.

Our ever-popular grabber game added to the fun as children (and adults!) of all ages tested their skills in moving bags of “waste” from the bunker into the furnace!
